The last stop on our road trip was New Orleans, Louisiana. We stayed at a hotel in the French Quarter, and spent the afternoon walking around, eating Cajun food and beignets, listening to music, and seeing what makes this City so very unique.
While in Florida we discovered one of our good Kauai friends was visiting her hometown in Lake Worth, FL, so the morning after Disney we drove a couple hours south to see her. We spent the morning at the beach until the rain came, then we said goodbye and drove a few hours back north…
After my brother’s wedding in New York, we decided to take a little detour before driving back to Texas. We stopped in Orlando and took the kids to Disney World Magic Kingdom! They had been to Disneyland in California two years before, but I think they enjoyed it a lot more at this age, a…

On Day Two in Manhattan we took the subway to Central Park. The kids enjoyed playing at some of the playgrounds. Eva especially loved the big silver slide. Damian’s favorite was the Alice in Wonderland section. The kids were so exhausted after it all that we had to bribe them with ice cream just to…
On Thursday we explored Manhattan with the family. We hopped on one of those double decker busses and took a ride through downtown and then stopped at the World Trade Center memorial. We ate some pizza, did some shopping, and had enjoyed the change of scenery. The big city almost didn’t seem real to us.
Yesterday my hubby and fam played at The Broken Sprocket, an awesome food truck park in Brownsville. I rarely get to see the band play because it’s usually late at night and/or at bars where kids aren’t welcome. But the Broken Sprocket is family friendly and the grommies love it. If you haven’t checked out…
Did you know my husband is a fishing guide on South Padre Island? He charters bay trips on the Laguna Madre in search of trout, drum, flounder, and more. He has been a Captain for two years now and a deckhand for many many years before that. One of his dreams is to own a…
Over the weekend we drove up to San Antonio for one of my family’s favorite traditions. The weekend after Thanksgiving, we all go ride the train through Brackenridge Park in San Antonio. My grandpa would take my father when he was a kid, my dad took me, and now I’m taking my own! Pretty trippy!…

We were at The Jetties for our weekly free surfing lessons with SurfVive.Org when a huuuuuge storm crept up on us. The sky turned black and thunder roared. We quickly packed up and headed out, but not before capturing some fun pics!
Last week the swell from Hurricane Michael traveled hundreds of miles across the Gulf and exploded into the narrow ship channel on the south side of our little sandbar. The wave rarely breaks, so it’s always a treat when it does.
