1. Amber Teething Necklace– Amber is a homeopathic remedy for pain and other ailments. Succinic acid from the amber is absorbed into the skin and acts as a natural analgesic. I always had one on Eva (and now Damian), and I have to believe they help. We haven’t had any major teething issues since using them. I always figured they are at least worth a try.

2. Board Books– Board books are great because there is no paper to be torn (and eaten) and they last a lot longer. Some of our favorites are Chicka Chicka Boom Boom, 100 First Words, and The Foot Book.

3. Fisher-Price Brilliant Basics Rock-a-Stack– This is a classic baby toy and perfect for any little learner. It helps babies differentiate between size and color while developing motor skills.

4. Baby Backpack for Hiking– This is a must-have for any outdoorsy family. The shade and ability to convert into a seat makes it the perfect baby carrier for hikes. We LOVE ours.

5. Mega Bloks First Builders– Both Eva and Damian were obsessed with these blocks at this age. They are the perfect size for babies just learning how to stack.

6. Fisher-Price Laugh & Learn Fun with Friends Musical Table– This was another favorite toy for both Damian and Eva. It helped encourage them to stand and walk around the table to check out all the little activities on it. Both kids started “walking” by pushing this table around before they graduated to the walker below.

7. VTech Sit-to-Stand Learning Walker– After Eva started pushing her activity table around everywhere, we knew we had to get her some wheels. My mom purchased one of these for her for Christmas and a week or so later she was walking on her own. I definitely think this thing helps babies build their confidence, strength, and coordination for walking. I always called it the little lawnmower.

8. NUK Active Sippy Cup– This was the perfect transition sippy cup for us. The spout is in the same shape of a traditional sippy, but it is made of soft rubber like a bottle. It was the only way I could ever get Eva transition to a hard-spout sippy, and I’m currently working on that with Damian who is still primarily using these for milk.

9. Portable High Chair This isn’t the portable high chair we have, but when I saw it while browsing on Amazon I knew I had to include it on this list instead. The one we have is the kind that attaches to a chair, but I love this one because it stands on its own. It looks like it would be perfect for the beach.

10. Convertible Car Seat– I switched Damian to a convertible car seat at around 8 months. He is still rear-facing (of course), but he is much more comfortable with all the extra room.

What were your must-have items for 6-12 months? Did anything on my list make yours? Anything you could have done without?
